Ed Martin, former head of the Trump administration's "weaponization working group," is facing a formal disciplinary proceeding for alleged threats against the First Amendment rights of Georgetown Law and improper communications with a judge. Washington, D.C., Disciplinary Counsel Hamilton P. Fox III has filed a two-count complaint against Martin, alleging that his actions violated the First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution. The case could lead to a lengthy disciplinary proceeding involving the D. C. Bar and the Board on Professional Responsibility, which could take years to adjudicate and could result in consequences for Martin's law license. Martin had previously complained about Georgetown Law's diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and threatened to discriminate against job applicants affiliated with Georgetown Law.
