The world's largest data center project, Fermi America, is experiencing delays and logistical hurdles that could prevent it from starting. The company, co-founded by President Trump's former Energy Secretary Rick Perry, is facing a high-profile test of its ability to deliver on its promises. The lack of a publicly confirmed anchor tenant, typically a hyperscaler, is seen as essential to the project's progress. CEO, Michael Neugebauer, defended the project, but acknowledged some shortcomings and admitted he may have been naive about how complex these projects are to put together. The project, known as Project Matador, spans a space half the size of Manhattan and will have three times the power demand of New York City.
