Crime blotter: Second suspect sought in $2 million iPhone theft

Apple Crime Blotter highlights the recent thefts of iPads and $2 million in iPhones from a Best Buy in West Hollywood. The second suspect, Robert Rashawn Soto, remains at large and posed as Union Logistics employees to steal 38 boxes of iPhone 17 Pro Max phones valued at nearly $2m. The first suspect, Jeffrey Moore, was charged with grand theft, conspiracy to commit grand theft and organized scheme to defraud charges in connection with the heist. A bogus crypto app emerged on the App Store in mid-April stealing $9.5 million in Bitcoin from victims, one of whom was a well-known singer. Police in San Mateo, Calif., followed an AirTag signal to find the vehicle and later a MacBook tracking signal to recover more stolen items.
