A cave in the northwestern province of Bilecik, Turkey, has been the focus of a new sustainable tourism initiative aimed at preserving and opening the site to visitors. The discovery of a ritual pit dating back to the Epipaleolithic period led researchers to uncover a deliberately shaped stalagmite and a seated female figurine inside the pit. The site has been heavily damaged in recent decades due to unauthorized excavations and use as a filming location. The project aims to protect the area's archaeological, cultural and natural heritage while integrating it into tourism in a controlled and sustainable manner.
