Verizon CEO Daniel Schulman has stated that the company's strategy of relying too heavily on price without growth is not sustainable, and that it is time to stop relying on this strategy. He also addressed the issue at the Semafor World Economy conference in Washington, stating that Verizon can no longer rely on its reputation of providing the best wireless network and that the gap between it and competitors has shrunk. Schulmann, who took over as CEO in October 2025, has made several bold moves, including layoffs of more than 13,000 employees and inviting other Fortune 100 CEOs to support AI retraining initiatives as part of his strategy to bet on AI integration. The carrier has also raised the cost of its popular Netflix and HBO streaming bundle and recently increased the price of its HBO and Max Max plans.
