WTO cannot address trade imbalances, but US not ready to exit, Greer says

U.S. Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, has stated that the World Trade Organization (WTO) cannot address the core challenges of the global trading system, including structural imbalances, currency issues, and large export-driven surplus by other countries. Greer also revealed that the US had proposed reforms to address these issues, but countries including Brazil and Turkey rejected these proposals. The WTO's e-commerce moratorium on digital transmission duties has expired after 28 years and is expected to resume talks to extend it in Geneva.
