David Simon, known as the "mall king" who led Simon Property Group, has died at the age of 64 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Simon was the CEO of the company for over three decades and oversaw 250 properties owned or interest in, mainly top-tier malls across the country. He was known for his aggressive acquisitions, including a hostile takeover bid for a rival mall operator while its chair was in prison. Eli Simon, the eldest of David's five children, has been appointed CEO and president of Simon Property.
