Trump's pick for new Fed Chair to have confirmation hearing next week
Published on April 14, 2026.
Kevin Warsh, the financier and former Fed governor, is set to have a confirmation hearing next week to answer questions about his leadership at the Federal Reserve. The hearing comes just before current Fed Chair Jerome Powell's term is up on May 15. This could occur if U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro does not resolve her criminal investigation into Powell's oversight of the renovation of two Fed buildings. Sen. Thom Tillis, a member of the Senate Banking Committee, has made it a condition of his support for Warsh as long as Warsh is confirmed. The ongoing investigation could jeopardize the Fed's political independence under Warsh.
