Mexican telecommunications company, C3ntro Telecom, is investing over 5 billion pesos (US $280 million) into a cross-border fiber optic network designed to meet the connectivity demands of artificial intelligence and data centers. The 2,500-kilometer underground fiber route will connect Querétaro, Mexico, to Phoenix, another major node in North American digital infrastructure. The project is currently being completed in the northern state of Sonora and is expected to reach over 27 million people, mostly in rural areas, by selling wholesale capacity to regional internet providers. The investment of 1.25 billion peso ($67.4 million) represents an investment of over 300 million dollars and is set to create 350 direct jobs.
