The chair of the selection committee, Keith Gill, explained that while they were ranked last among the 37 at-large teams, their 339th-ranked strength of schedule and zero wins against top-caliber opponents worked against them. The full slate of games begins on Thursday and Friday, with the national champion set to be crowned in Indianapolis on April 6.
