Miami (Ohio) earns spot in March Madness twist

Miami (Ohio) has earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament despite a 31-1 record and fewer losses than any other team. The team, which went undefeated in the regular season, is an 11 seed and will face SMU in a First Four game. Despite their single loss last week, they now enjoy the same privilege as the other 67 teams in the field. The chair of the selection committee, Keith Gill, explained that while they were ranked last among the 37 at-large teams, their 339th-ranked strength of schedule and zero wins against top-caliber opponents worked against them. The full slate of games begins on Thursday and Friday, with the national champion set to be crowned in Indianapolis on April 6.
