A very high fire danger is expected to continue across parts of New Mexico through the weekend, with gusty winds and lightning the main threats. High temperatures are expected to remain in the 80s and 90s, with temperatures expected to rise further. The highest fire danger will be in southern and southeastern New Mexico. The Pacific Ocean will move in from the northwest, bringing temperatures slightly cooler than normal for the season, but the wind will continue to rise as temperatures begin to rise.
