Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has defended the Second Amendment rights for "non-dangerous felons" in a video posted to X. He argued that those who pose no threat to the community should not have their rights taken away. His office has submitted legal briefs defending Second Amendment right against past state prosecutions. While Florida law prevents dangerous felons from owning firearms, this should only apply to those who are a danger to the public, not those who should have never been a felon. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that for the government to restrict Second Amendment freedoms, individuals must pose a credible threat to others' physical safety.
