The Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) has hosted its first virtual info session on data centers in Indianapolis, creating new zoning regulations for data centers. The session was held online and was attended by city-county councilors Jesse Brown and Crista Wells, who also hosted an in-person watch party for residents' concerns. The new regulations would cap noise at 65 decibels, require buildings to sit at least 200 feet from property lines, and limit generator testing in the evenings. However, critics argue that this is not enough and that it does not address how to hold developers accountable for their actions. The next info session is April 30 and a public hearing is set for May 20.
