Fairfax leaders agree to testify on Capitol Hill on their 'sanctuary' immigration policies

Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano and Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kincaid have agreed to testify at a hearing on Capitol Hill on their'sanctuary' immigration policies. The hearing will examine how state and local policies that prohibit cooperation with federal immigration authorities harm public safety. This comes after the murder of Stephanie Minter in Fairfax County, where the alleged killer is an illegal immigrant with a lengthy criminal history. Descano's office has dropped almost all charges against Jalloh, allowing him to walk free time before Minter's murder. Kincaida, who also released illegal immigrants back into the community, has refused to honor ICE's immigration detainer on Jelloh and other violent illegal immigrants in her jail. The testimony is expected to assist Congress in developing legislative reforms to address sanctuary jurisdictions.
