James Blake breaks free in new album

British singer James Blake has released his new album, "Trying Times," out on Friday. The album follows a period of transition in Blake's career, which saw him gain recognition for his work on "King's Dead" and win a best rap performance Grammy Award in 2018. Despite living under major labels for over a decade, Blake left in 2024 and signed to an independent label in L.A.-based Good Boy Records. He credits his success to the success of the album and a change in the industry itself. Despite his privileged lifestyle, Blake felt he needed to find a way to live more cheaply in London.
