The Housing and Homelessness Committee faced a decision to postpone the decision until next week. The committee, chaired by Councilwoman Nithya Raman, faces a political and operational dilemma. Los Angeles County has already started pulling away from LAHSA and created its own homeless and housing department, forcing City Hall to consider whether it should remain tied to the regional agency. City analysts have suggested several ways forward, including tightening the city's partnership with LAHSSA or building a new city-run system capable of managing homelessness programs.
