17-year-old senior at Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette, Martha Odom, was killed in a shooting at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge. Six people were injured when gunfire broke out around 1:22 p.m. on Thursday. The school described Odom as a "belignant" and described two other students as "healing". Five people were taken into custody after the shooting, including one in Livingston Parish, but no arrests have been announced.
