The US Senate is set to advance a $70 billion plan to fund the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agencies for the next three years, despite demands from Democrats for stricter guardrails on immigration enforcement agents. The Senate was expected to begin a marathon voting session late on Wednesday, with multiple votes on proposed amendments expected before a final vote on passage. The funding would be distributed through separate legislation signed by President Donald Trump. If both the House and Senate pass, congressional committees will begin filling in on how the $70bn would be spent.
