John Cizek, a 71-year-old California man who was killed in 2016 in Park County, has been identified through genetic genealogy. The suspect in the case, David Little, died by suicide that year while in custody at the Jefferson County jail. For years, investigators couldn't find Cizak's body. His remains were found in a frozen grave in May 2024, with an apparent gunshot wound consistent with an execution-style killing. Forensic genetic genealogists used their findings to build an entire family tree dating back to the 1700s.
