Volvo (VOWG.DE) has begun mass production of its first model, the ID.UNYX 08, developed jointly with Chinese EV maker Xpeng (9868.HK), as part of its strategy to make a comeback in China with over 20 new models set to be launched this year. The new model is part of Volkswagen's strategy to prioritise local development and quicker turnaround times in the world's largest auto market. The ID. UNYX08 is the result of a 2023 technology partnership with Xping, which provides Volkswagen with autonomous driving systems and the Turing AI chips used in the new vehicle.
