Top prospect Carson Williams has been named as the regular shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays, replacing Taylor Walls who was sidelined due to a right oblique strain. Other notable decisions included the addition of starter Ryan Pepiot to the injured list with hip inflammation, and Joe Boyle being added to the Opening Day rotation to replace him. The move comes as a surprise as Pepiot is expected to receive an injection to alleviate discomfort in his hip, but is not expected to miss significant time due to the workload he built up during Spring Training. The Rays also had to recall three players previously sent to Triple-A to assume spots on their Opening Day roster.
