Andrew D. Emerald, a Massachusetts man, has been charged with eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications for allegedly threatening to injure President Donald Trump online. The FBI says that Emerald held a sword and a sheath when federal agents arrived at his door to arrest him, threatening to shoot him if they failed. He was eventually arrested with the help of an FBI crisis negotiator and a local police officer. If found guilty, Emerald could face up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine if found guilty. He had previously been barred from owning a firearm after receiving a notification from the Secret Service regarding a threat made against the Trump administration in 2018.
