Trump causes political earthquake in KY, backing Barr, Alvarado in U.S. Senate, House races

Republican President Donald Trump has endorsed Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate and the House in Kentucky. The announcement came just before the Kentucky Derby. The president praised U.K. Rep. Andy Barr as a "Proven Political Winner" and pledged his "complete and Total Endorsement" to be the next United States Senator from Kentucky. Barr is currently competing against former Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Lexington businessman Nate Morris in a heated Republican primary race for the seat. Following the news of the endorsement, Morris dropped out of the race. Meanwhile, another Republican candidate for Barr's congressional seat is Ralph Alvarado.
