March 2026 is set to be the warmest March on record in Northern California history, with a return of rain and snow expected on the final day of the month, potentially preventing it from being the driest. Shattered showers are expected in the Valley, Foothills and Sierra on Tuesday morning, with the snow level expected to drop enough for accumulation at the Tahoe area summits. Wednesday will be a KCRA 3 weather Impact Day for the Sierra due to snow and wind affecting travel in the mountains. Donner Summit, Echo Summit and Carson Summit could receive up to 8 inches of snowfall, while Donner could receive between 4 and 8 inches, while Echo and Carson will receive lower totals. Temperatures are expected to remain above normal for the end of March, with high temperatures predicted to remain in the upper 60s.
