The number of tuberculosis cases in the United States has reached its highest level in over a decade, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This has raised concerns among infectious disease specialists, as the disease can spread through respiratory droplets. Early testing and immediate-result programs are being launched across the country to prevent transmission. Dr. Stephen Blatt, TriHealth’s medical director for infectious diseases, said that active tuberculosis can be cured with a nine-month course of antibiotics.
