Police identify man killed in Anchorage standoff after lighting his home on fire, APD says

Police have identified the man killed in an early morning standoff with Anchorage police in which he allegedly fired a high-powered rifle, attempted to shoot down a police drone, and set his home on fire. The officer who fired their weapon was identified as Officer Jacob Jones, who has been with the department since December 2016. The incident occurred early Saturday morning in a south Anchorage neighborhood. Police believe the suspect started the fire after an officer fired several rounds and then saw him down inside the residence.
