Boca Raton couple pleads guilty to involvement in $50 million real estate fraud scheme

A Boca Raton couple, Jean Joseph and Janalie Camille Bingham, have pleaded guilty to their roles in a $50 million real estate investment fraud scheme. The couple ran and operated Wells Real Estate Investment LLC together since 2017, a real estate acquisition and development company based in West Palm Beach. While Bingham was the CEO, Joseph's involvement was hidden from investors as he was convicted of a separate federal wire fraud case in South Florida in early 2020. The company advertised that its funds would be used to invest in real estate, but only a small portion of the funds were used for such purposes.
