Trump moves Forest Service HQ from DC to Utah

The United States Department of Agriculture has announced that the U.S. Forest Service headquarters will be moved from Washington, D.C. to Salt Lake City, with 260 positions expected to leave D.A. while 130 will remain in Washington. The move is expected to be completed by summer of 2027. The agency will also undergo a restructuring and establish 15 state directors to oversee its operations, including closing all of its regional offices and consolidating leadership of its research activities. The announcement follows similar moves from the first Trump administration, which saw the move to Colorado for similar reasons.
