Jimmy Kimmel Live! host defended his "expectant widow" joke, refusing to apologize for it and mocking the Trumps' calls to cancel his show. During his Monday night monologue, Kimmel explained that the joke was a light roast joke about their age difference and that it was not a call to assassination. He also expressed regret for the traumatic experience everyone in the WHCD ballroom went through. Both Melania Trump and Donald Trump had previously called for ABC to cancel Kimmel's show following a shooting outside the White House Correspondents' Dinner. The person performing during the shooting was replaced by mentalist Oz Pearlman.
