Shamar Elkins, the Louisiana gunman who murdered eight children and two women before he was killed, was a 31-year-old Army vet who shared a picture of himself with one of his daughters hours before the massacre. Elkins was shot dead by local police as he drove from Shreveport to Bossier City. The slain victims, who range from 1 to 14, were described as mostly in a life-threatening condition by police. In a recent post on Facebook, Elkins urged God to guard his mind and emotions in response to negative thoughts. The shooting is now being handled by Louisiana State Police as it crosses parish boundaries.
