Great Bend school district releases statement following suspected murder of 8th-grade student

The Great Bend school district has confirmed the availability of counseling resources following the suspected murder of 14-year-old Rubi Paulina Perez. The district has activated an enhanced counseling response, including a Crisis Response Team at Great Bend Middle School and school counselors. Another teen has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge. The obituary for Perez, who was an eighth-grade student at the school, described her as a standout student who excelled at track, volleyball, and basketball.
