Savitha Shan, a 21-year-old student at the University of Texas at Austin, was killed in a mass shooting on March 1. Her parents, Shan Muthian and Selvi Shan, are launching a scholarship to honor her legacy through a donation-funded scholarship. The family hopes to reach $500,000 in initial donations and the university will match them through its Texas Challenge Scholarship program. The scholarship is aimed at students from families with less than $125,000 per year.
