U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Beijing next week, as both countries seek to stabilise their relationship amid tensions over trade, Taiwan, and the Iran war. The key issues for the visit, which will be the first by a U.S leader in nearly a decade, include trade concessions from Beijing ahead of November's midterm elections. China has been in talks with Boeing for a potential deal that could include 500 737 MAX jets, plus dozens of wide-body planes. The deal has been stalled for years due to threats from Trump to cut off access of critical spare engine parts to China. In April, China's Premier Li Qiang signed two new regulations granting authorities power to investigate foreign firms, governments, and individuals that seek to shift their suppliers away from China. The new regulations could also be used to retaliate against Western sanctions on Chinese businesses.
