Israeli crossing closures following the Israel-US war with Iran led to panic buying in Gaza, where residents fear food shortages. The incident sparked panic as people rushed to the market to buy essential goods, with shelves empty and the price of essential goods rising. The Israeli body managing the Palestinian territory, COGAT, announced the closure of crossings leading to Gaza and the occupied West Bank “until further notice” following security developments related to the war. Local sources reported that the crossing closures were linked to the Jewish holiday of Purim, creating confusion over how long they would last. Hani Abu Issa, a father of five children, expressed concern over the possibility of remaining closed crossings, stating that while stockpiling while the crossings remained closed, it was not a viable solution.
