Billie Joe Armstrong performed a secret show with the Coverups, an all-covers band that also features Jason White, at the Cornerstone in Berkeley, California. The group reportedly performed a 30-song set that included several songs Armstrong has performed with Green Day. Highlights included Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie, and Bryan Adams' "Summer of '09". The cover songs were mostly covered by Armstrong and his band. The band formed in 2018 with bassist Mike Dirnt, who has not performed with them since 2019. They are set to perform as part of a benefit concert at Oakland's Fox Theater on May 2.
