Space fans hold watch party at FIU to witness historic splashdown of Artemis II astronauts

A watch party was held at Florida International University's main campus to witness the historic return of astronauts from the Artemis II spacecraft. Students gathered in a classroom to watch the return to Earth, which experts said was the most dangerous part of the trip. The four-person crew had traveled farther around the Moon than anyone before and ended their 10-day mission in the Pacific Ocean, marking the first crewed lunar mission in over half a century. With 13 FIU alums confirmed to have worked on the mission, students expressed hope that additional alums could be part of this mission.
