However, members of the House of Representatives cannot be removed from office under the Constitution. This comes after Jeffries criticized the court's decision to invalidate a Black-majority congressional district in Louisiana as an illegal racial gerrymander, which he deemed unacceptable. The president's actions are usually followed by criticism of Supreme Court decisions that undermine the Voting Rights Act.
