The first-ever KUT Festival, hosted by public media outlets KUT and KUTX, will be held on May 1 and 2 at the University of Austin, Texas, featuring panel conversations, hands-on activities, and live music. Much of the event is free and open to the public, with vendors, food trucks, and performances by artists such as Shakey Graves, BLK ODYSSY, J’CUUZI, and Melissa Carper. The festival also includes experiences for kids and families, including an illustration activity and a live musical puppet show at the Texas Science & Natural History Museum. Many of the stations' great reporters, including Mose Buchele, Nathan Bernier, and Miles Bloxson, will appear on panels tackling hot topics such as AI in Austin, transportation, immigration, and affordability. The event is also partnering with the Texas Book Festival and features over 150 participants.
