Rick Scott calls for ‘commonsense’ reforms to FISA

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida) has called for reforms to Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which allows the federal government to spy on foreigners located abroad. The House unanimously passed a 10-day extension of the program after conservative lawmakers rejected a last-minute deal to extend the program for 18 months. President Trump had previously called for a "clean" 18-month reauthorization without reforms. Despite these reforms, Scott maintains that the government has not been able to abuse the law and notes that his company was surveilled during an investigation into Medicare fraud.
