The new WNBA collective bargaining agreement, ratified by 90 percent of the Women's National Basketball Players Association (WNA), has created a complicated path for the Liberty's Big 3, Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. Each player is eligible for a $1.4 million supermax contract, but this is not feasible due to the league's hard cap. The new CBA also allows for teams to sign multiple star players, making it difficult for them to distribute their millions. The challenge is that the supermax rises more than the salary cap, making signing multiple players difficult. The Liberty's salary cap for 2026 is $7 million, up from $5 million last year, and this year's supermax is a 20 percent cap hit, a significant increase from the previous CBA.
