Long Beach girl, Aria, had a congenital heart defect called a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which caused a hole in her heart that failed to close and could potentially be life-threatening. After turning 2, she was treated with a minimally invasive device by Abbott Structural Heart Solutions, a California-based company that specializes in improving people's quality of life. She is now a healthy, active child. A playdate was held between Aria and another girl, all of whom have had their hearts repaired via non-surgical methods.
