North Dakota State University's Art Education Innovation Fellowship aims to help local art teachers rediscover their inner artistic practice. The fellowship, launched through the university's School of Design, Architecture and Art, gives regional art teachers dedicated studio space and time to focus on their own creative practice. Unlike traditional artist residencies, the fellowship is flexible and does not require a specific project. The first educator participating in the 2026 residency is Rachel Vada Murphy, an art teacher at Sheyenne High School. Alongside the studio room, fellowship also provides access to professional tools and facilities within Renaissance Hall.
