A snowy white owl, known as "Olive Oyl," has died from an apparent electrocution at the Coffee Creek Preserve in Chesterton, Indiana. The owl was found by a man walking near a Popeyes restaurant and later euthanised by Humane Indiana Wildlife. The organization posted news of the owl's death on its Facebook page, which was shared hundreds of times. The bird's presence at the preserve attracted hundreds of spectators and raised awareness about potential threats to the owl.
