Jovan Duverne, a serial arsonist with a previous conviction for arson, is facing double murder charges for allegedly burning two elderly sisters to death in their Hollywood home on Feb 4. The arsonist allegedly set fire to the Vista Del Mar Ave. home of Maria “Chelo” Vazquez and Yolanda “Yola” Honda, killing both women. Honda died at the scene and Vazque later died in Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. Duvere is charged with two counts of murder and 11 counts of felony arson. If convicted, he faces up to death or life in state prison without parole. Prosecutors allege that Duveree used a handheld torch-style lighter to set ten fires in Hollywood between Jan. 26 and Feb. 4.
