A ‘Brain Dead’ Woman Woke Up After Her Ambulance 'Violently' Hit a Pothole

A woman in Uttar Pradesh, India, who was declared brain-dead after an ambulance carrying her hit a pothole, began breathing normally again after the accident. The 50-year-old woman, who collapsed at home while doing housework, was taken to a local hospital and later to a larger facility in Bareilly, where doctors found absent brainstem reflexes and gave her a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 3. Her husband, Kuldeep Kumar Shukla, immediately stopped funeral plans. Neurologist Dr. J.S. Deol suggested that the violent movement of the vehicle could have contributed to breathing.
