Texas Executes Man Convicted of Murder Whose Cousin Claimed to be the Actual Killer

James Broadnax, a Texas man convicted of murdering two men in 2008, was executed by lethal injection on April 30 at a prison in Huntsville, Texas. His cousin, Demarius Cummings, was also convicted of the murders and sentenced to life without parole. However, Cummings recently confessed to being the shooter. His defense claimed that prosecutors had unfairly excluded potential jurors based on race and misrepresented rap lyrics written by Broadnass. These appeals were denied by the U.S. Supreme Court.
