Overland Park man charged with attempted murder in stabbing of Hawai’i boat captain

A 21-year-old Overland Park man, Avery Nissen, has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a boat captain with a filet knife during a snorkel tour in Hawai'i. The victim was found with a stab wound to his lower abdomen and numerous cuts to his head and hands. Nissens is currently being held in a Hawai’i jail on a $1.57 million bond. The motive for the attack is unknown.
