Architectural historian Eric Wheeler attended an open house in Laurelhurst Park, which included a tour of the 1916 English Arts & Crafts mansion built for developer Paul Cole Murphy. The three-story residence, which has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is now for sale at $1,475,000. The house was designed by prolific architect Ellis F. Lawrence, the founder and first dean of the University of Oregon’s School of Architecture and Allied Arts. Home shoppers were drawn to the grand spaces and the historical aspects of the home.
