Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is closing its South Terminal as part of its "Journey With AUS" expansion project. All Allegiant and Frontier flights will now be moved to the main Barbara Jordan Terminal. The closure is part of a process that aims to improve the movement of planes across the airfield and reduce congestion on the runways. The airport will also build a temporary six-gate terminal in its place called Concourse M, which will allow planes and passengers to avoid construction on the massive 26-gate Concourse B. The closing of the South Terminal has been anticipated for years, with the previous property owner Lonestar Airport Holdings LLC paying $88 million to take over its operations.
