Shots fired near National Mall; press escorted off North Lawn

The Secret Service has reported an officer-involved shooting near the National Mall, which resulted in a response from emergency response teams. The incident occurred at 15th Street and Independence Avenue, a few blocks from the Washington Monument. The Secret Service warned that one person was shot by law enforcement and their condition is currently unknown. Press was escorted off the North Lawn and sheltered in the briefing room. It is unclear whether the shooting was connected to the White House or President Trump.
